Background
The antibody clone FE11 is suitable to detect MSH2 in normal and carcinomatous tissue. Missing expression of MSH2 in immunohistochemistry can be used in search of MMR mutations in tumor tissues and for pre-screening. MSH2 is a protein of 934 aa (104,7 kDa) localized to the cell nucleus. It is one of the four major DNA mismatch repair (MMR) genes responsible for post- replication DNA repair. Mutations in the MSH2 gene account for the appearance of microsatellite instability found in colorectal carcinomas and other tumor entities. Germline mutations of the MSH2 gene have been linked to hereditary non-polyposis colorectal cancer (HNPCC). C-terminus of human MSH2 protein.
