Background
Influenza virus is a single-stranded RNA virus, segmented, 70nm in diameter and enveloped. Strains are described by geographic origin, strain number, year of isolation and hemagglutination (H) and neuraminidase (N) antigens.

Immunogen
Allantoic fluid of 10 days old embryonated eggs, inoculated with influenza A virus, strain A/ New Caledonia/20/99 IVR 116. The Influenza Virus was purified by Ultracentrifugation with 10-40 % sucrose gradient.

Purification Method
Purified by RP-HPLC, FPLC, or reducing/non-reducing SDS-PAGE Silver Stain; Purified by ultracentrifugation using 10-40% sucrose gradient.
